When it rains...
Hey everybody!  *waves*  Just checking in again to let you know I'm still here and still alive.

First... and most important (read:  what freaks me out the most)... my daughter has her first evah boyfriend.  *gasp*  I really wanna hate him because ... well, it's my DAUGHTER!  But, he's a nice guy, a year younger than my munchkin, a wonderful musician, and very polite.  *eyes him warily*

I've also been having some strange ... health related problems... and finally went into the doctor to discuss what could possibly be causing my symptoms.  Turns out, I'm borderline diabetic.  Diet and exercise are now my friends.  Today's exercise was mowing the front lawn and weeding the garden.  I'm exhausted, but the neighbors must be thrilled now that my yard isn't the eyesore of the neighborhood anymore.  *snort*  I'm relaxing with a nice frozen fruit smoothie, now.

And, I can't forget waking up after a huge thunderstorm a couple weeks ago only to find the ceiling in the spare bedroom going *drip*... *drip*... *drip*.   Naturally, I *flailed* about and called daddy.  *g*  It helps to have construction workers as family members.  Even at 71 years old, my dad high-tailed it over to my house and climbed up on the roof to patch the leak until we got some more respectable weather to rip the roofing off and repair the damage.  That will probably happen this week according to my mom.

So, needless to say, the money I had set aside to take a trip across the pond and visit Monkey is now going towards a new roof on my house.  *pout*  I have to watch my sugar intake very closely and exercise regularly to keep from taking medication.  *ponders the pros of that scenario*  And, I have a babbling, forgetful, teenager who acts as if she's lost about 100 IQ points most days, running around my house now.  *wants to smack some sense back into her*

How much sugar is in alcohol?

EXEC!!!! *poumces on Exec* Does this mean that you're computer is now working?? *looks hopeful* Is boyfriend that same chappy you mentioned last time we chatted? As long as she's happy and safe I wish them well (provided they are also sensible).

Well done for sorting out your yard, mine still looks like a wildlife garden mixed with a wasteland. I did get as far as hireing a chap to remove the rubbish and clutter from the side passageway and patio though, does that count as work? I'm glad you have some sort of diagnosis and that it's not drastic news. Does this mean less wine and coffee based chilled drinks? *hopes not for your sake*

It's a real pain about the roof, but sadly these things happen and I understand that you can't make it. The Shmo says hi, and that she hopes you're going to have fun this summer. Sometimes she can actually be sweet when she's not opeining her big mouth. :)

*is thoroughly pounced* We got my daughter's laptop sorted out, so we now have a working computer at home other than the work laptop. Yayz! Depending on the amount the roof repair will require, I may end up with some leftover cash to get my computer either repaired or replaced.

That totally counts as work. *nods* I still have some weeding to do, and I need to trim back the bushes, but the place looks 100% better. :D

Sadly, the coffee based chilled drinks are slathered in sugary goodness. *sigh* But, if I get my weight under control, that should fix some of the problem. My dad also developed diabetes as an adult. When he lost the extra weight he was carrying around, his blood sugar levels tested fine. I'm hoping the same happens to me. *crosses all available appendages*

I'm totally bummed that I won't be coming over. *super pout* I even had friends at work who were scanning for good airfare deals for me. Heh. Who knows... the loser ex could all of a sudden start paying again. I'm thinking positive. *g*

YAY *does happy dance for working laptop and possible new computer* I hope the weight loss isn't too hard and that it sorts things out for you. *crosses all available appendages*

*joins in the super pout* Yeah I was really looking forward to you both coming over too. Life tends to get in the way of what we want sometimes though. It just means that we have to be patient and work that little bit harder to get it. ~~~~~positive vibes for the carpy ex to start paying loads~~~~~

If Diesel's solicitors manage to work a decent case against the local police then maybe he'll win thoughsands and we can book the tickets for you!! :)

How much sugar is in alcohol?

The doctor my ex saw about her diabetes told her to avoid wine coolers. (Yikes! That means no Mike's Hard Lemonade!) It's better to just stick to the hard liquors. But you can easily make your own wine coolers using vodka (or tequila or rum as the case may be) and sugar free fruit drink mixes.

And be moderate with that fruit smoothie! Fructose can be just as bad as glucose!

Sorry about your roof. I'm constantly freaked out about something bad happening to my house. You're fortunate you have the people and finances to help you get through it though.

And kiddo has a boy toy! Awesome! *eg*

Hard liquor. That I can do. *nods*

Gah. Fruit even hates me. *rolls eyes*

Ah, the joys of home ownership. At least I know once the roof is fixed, the over engineered new roof will probably last longer than the house. *giggles* I am lucky to have my dad and brother to fix stuff around here. It'd cost me a small fortune to get the work completed by a contractor. As it sits, I just need to provide materials, pizza and soda.

"And kiddo has a boy toy! Awesome!"
Sooooooooooooooooo not helping!

I realized I'd been MIA for a while now. Between the doctor, orthodontist, dentist, dermatologist, meetings at work, craziness at home, my interwebz going nutzo and the kid being lovesick, I'd forgotten to check in.

Oops. *HUGS*

I hope the diet and exercise go well. *hugs*
